I attended a yoga class with Senior Kripalu teacher, Stephen Cope, years ago. He introduced these concepts that I still teach to this day….
In classes this week and next we are discussing Sukha.
Sukha in Sanskrit means ease, happiness, pleasure, ease, or bliss.
Where can you find a sense of ease in this moment?
Good riddance to 2016. It was not an easy year for many. We could blame the Monkey, politics, deaths among many other things which brought suffering to so many.
Let’s let go of what is holding us back. Let’s move into the new year without grievance.
A fast post today to wish you a happy holiday & Merry Christmas!
I’ve spent the week being reminded of how we take our health for granted. I caught a cold/flu last Saturday and I’m still not over it. It’s made me seriously want to sit with my arms crossed and assume a good old fashioned pout.
I taught the “Sweat and Laugh in the morning (or anytime)” Kundalini class twice this past week.
The first, which I mentioned before, was by request. The second I taught on a whim. Kundalini classes open with a mantra, “Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo” Here’s a link….
I promised we’d do it before the end of this session within the next few weeks.
After class I started thinking about it… now I’m not sure it’s been 10 years since I’ve taught it but it definitely has been years for sure.
I haven’t felt much like laughing for some time, that is true. With the passing of my brother on March 13th 2014 and grieving that has followed it’s been really challenging. (Grief sucks).
Over the past few years I’ve really struggled with staying present. The lessons were all over the map to do with my brother and his passing, my bff getting ill and well.. life overall.
Around 8:30pm a few weeks ago I was driving home from work and got stopped in front of the Sub shop on King St. For some reason as I watched the woman cleaning the counter inside I started thinking about the store being robbed. I didn’t give it much thought past that and made my way back home.
What a week that was! The US election was a hot topic of conversation in almost every class. Clearly not only are Americans very much divided on the topic but also Canadians. I prepared myself to hear more about the new President elect as I walked in to teach one specific class. This group had already mentioned their dissatisfaction about Trump for the past several weeks so I figured I was going to get an earful when I arrived.
We can allow fear to hold us back or we can use the Nike motto and “Just do it”
This year I made a series of colouring books based on Totem animals. The books were intended to be silly, whimsical and fun. The reviews so far haven’t been very good. I worked really hard on getting these books completed; drawing, scanning, designing etc
A belief can stop us from moving ahead or keep us stuck where we are at.
“Whether you think you can, or whether you think you can’t, you are right” ~Henry Ford
Now before we sluff this off and say it’s cliche we really need to take responsibility for what it is we do believe.
