Opening the heart

Keeping with the theme of Valentine’s Day (Happy Belated heart day) we worked this past week on opening the heart.

We reviewed the Heart Chakra (Anahata) the energy center that surrounds the physical heart. The mantra or ‘bij sound’ for the heart center is “Yam” (pronounced ‘yum’) and silently chanted with movement.

Healing ideas

So I’ve have this dang cold since the week before Christmas. I was wiped out last Thursday by it again. I thought it was gone, albeit a cough remained, but then it came back with a vengeance. **disclaimer: yes I’m whining**

I took Monday off of work but by Tuesday decided to get back at it. One of my students is in nurse and she was saying there is a “100 day cold” going around….insert looking at the ceiling.

Farewell

Received notification this past week that our Cancer Support Center is closing. I’ve been teaching yoga & meditation for this community for the past 8 years. It is such a great loss for our city & those who are on the Cancer journey.

Expanding, Contracting

I was speaking with a Reiki client last night about how sometimes our energies can sometimes get so scattered or seemingly so.

We have those moments when we are so busy we hardly know which way is up. Some of us are simply busy being busy all the time. We have deadlines, projects etc., and as a small business owner

In this moment

I attended a yoga class with Senior Kripalu teacher, Stephen Cope, years ago. He introduced these concepts that I still teach to this day….

Easy does it

In classes this week and next we are discussing Sukha.

Sukha in Sanskrit means ease, happiness, pleasure, ease, or bliss.

Where can you find a sense of ease in this moment?

Happy New Year!

Good riddance to 2016. It was not an easy year for many. We could blame the Monkey, politics, deaths among many other things which brought suffering to so many.

Let’s let go of what is holding us back. Let’s move into the new year without grievance.

Happy Holidays

A fast post today to wish you a happy holiday & Merry Christmas!

I’ve spent the week being reminded of how we take our health for granted. I caught a cold/flu last Saturday and I’m still not over it. It’s made me seriously want to sit with my arms crossed and assume a good old fashioned pout.

Funny bone

I taught the “Sweat and Laugh in the morning (or anytime)” Kundalini class twice this past week.

The first, which I mentioned before, was by request. The second I taught on a whim. Kundalini classes open with a mantra, “Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo” Here’s a link….

Messages from heaven

This week I’ve been speaking to my brother alot. I have a few things I wish he was here to help me with. As that is not an option, I’ve been asking for his help & advice from the other side.

I had a vivid dream in which he offered me some answers… some of them I remember, others not so much however he was talking to me in the dream the entire night.

Then this happened…

Perspective

I promised we’d do it before the end of this session within the next few weeks.

After class I started thinking about it… now I’m not sure it’s been 10 years since I’ve taught it but it definitely has been years for sure.

I haven’t felt much like laughing for some time, that is true. With the passing of my brother on March 13th 2014 and grieving that has followed it’s been really challenging. (Grief sucks).

Welcome into the now

Over the past few years I’ve really struggled with staying present. The lessons were all over the map to do with my brother and his passing, my bff getting ill and well.. life overall.
